Athletics

Athletics are a very important part of the Sons of Pericles. We are able to have athletes in our Fraternity Participate in various sports such as Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Flag Football, Bowling, Bags, and much more. We will continue to grow and add even more Athletic activities for our members. We also reward Athletes for their success in High School and College with our Ahepa Sports Banquet held in the First Week of June.

District 13 Bowling Tournament
April 25th and 26th, 2015
The Ahepa District Bowling Tournament will be taking place in Joliet Illinois this year at Town and Country Lanes. The dates have been finalized with singles and doubles tournament on Saturday, April 25th, and the team event to take place on Sunday, April 26th. We look forward to seeing everyone at this great event.

National Bowling Tournament
May 2nd and 3rd, 2015
The Ahepa National Bowling Tournament will be taking place in Milwaukee Wisconsin this year. The dates have been finalized with singles and doubles tournament on Saturday, May 2nd, and the team event to take place on Sunday, May 3rd. We look forward to seeing everyone at thios great event.

Greeks in NYC
June 5th-7th, 2015
Greeks in NYC 2015 is right around the corner, and the Supreme Lodge is preparing for a fun-filled weekend! This year’s tournament will be held June 5-7 in Queens. Aside from the tournament, the weekend’s events will also after hours in Astoria and Manhattan.
The tournament will begin Friday evening, June 5 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Flushing and at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone, with two lodge members at each gym location to make sure that everything is running smoothly. The cost of the tournament will be the $250 team fee, plus the $75 player’s package which includes Sons of Pericles dues, Friday’s after hours, and a t-shirt. We will hopefully finish by Saturday evening to give those who have to travel back Sunday the option to leave when they wish. Additionally, there will also be a “Happy Hour” event at Republic Bar for both the Sons and Maids who are not participating in the tournament. On Sunday, there will also be a brunch set up. A hotel block under “Sons of Pericles” has been made at the Best Western Plaza in Long Island City. Reservations can be made by calling 718-880-3855. The Supreme Lodge looks to welcoming everyone to the Big Apple for Greeks in NYC 2015. Ahepa Regional Golf Tournament
June 15th, 2015
The AHEPA Midwest Golf Tournament will take place on Monday June 15, 2014 This year the tournament will be held at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisc. Every player will be flighted by handicap. We will send the 2 tournament winners and help pay for 5 more flight winners to fly to Florida and play in the AHEPA National Golf Tournament in November. Please consider playing this year. It is always great fun.

Ypsilanti #22 Plays in Greeks in LA Basketball Tournament
January 16th-19th 2015
The Sons of Pericles Ypsilanti 22 Chapter attended their first major Sons basketball tournament located in Los Angeles California over the holiday weekend. Seven members attended this tournament: Nick Pappas, Bobby Markatos, George Tselos, Peter Kostopolous, Richard Haritos, Peter Thomas, and Peter Korbos. The team played three games while they were out in LA. Ypsilanti lost the first game by only a few points while beating the eventual championship team in game two. Ypsilanti lost the final game by a few points as well, ending their tournament but knowing that they will be ready for the next event. Also included in the tournament were exciting activities to meet Greeks from around the country such as Greek Night at Saint Sophia Greek Orhodox Cathedral, tour of the city of Los Angeles, and night life around the city. This was a great event and our chapter looks forward to the next major tournament to take place in New York.

Ypsilanti Bowling Team Gears Up for 2014-2015 Season

The Sons of Pericles Bowling Teams are getting ready for the 2014-2015 Season. The Sons will be in their fourth year at Arena Bowling lanes in Oak Lawn Illinois. The team of Angelo Versis, Bobby Markatos, Phil Karides, Aj Parhas, Bob Markatos, Peter Parhas, and George Parhas will be looking forward to a great season. The team has high hopes to win another League title and compete in the District and National tournaments!

Sons of Pericles finishes strong in Worth Softball League.

The Sons of Pericles finished their 6th season in the Worth softball league. For the 3rd straight year, the team finished with a winning record and made the playoffs. Games were on Monday Nights between 6:30 and 9:30. Thank you Prime Time for our teams this year!

Sons of Pericles Basketball Team wins Greek Orthodox Basketball League.

A big congrats to the Sons of Pericles Basketball Team that played for Holy Cross Church this past year. The team had a fantastic season and ended up winning the championship this year! The team includes: Peter Korbos, Bobby Markatos, Richard Haritos, Tony Kladis, George Tselos, Themi Katris, and Peter Costapolous. Thank you all for your support during the season!
